I also use a lot of cheap RE squads, equipping them with the practically limitless supply of German schrecks and LMGs that litter this map. But I always use Dog Co., simply because it has good artillery even when un-upgraded. Units with good close-quarters-battle capability can be very useful, since you’ll sometimes face fallschirmjaeger and vetted volksgren and panzerfusilier squads. You can use any company for this mission. (If you cap one fuel point, you get the silver medal if you cap both fuel points, you get the gold.) If you want also to win a silver or gold medal, which I’m assuming you do, you need also to use a portion of your force to cap two other fuel points on the map-tasks involving heavy and increasingly challenging firefights for the control of these and other points along the way. To complete this mission, you need only to take a point close to your base, a big sanatorium complex on elevated ground, and then set up defenses to hold the point against five armor-and-infantry attack waves. The only downside of the strategy is that it can result in a very long (~2-hr hr) playthrough. The mission also is likely to get “stuck” whenever German units are obstructed in their paths-apparently the devs never anticipated that the player might lay tank traps (TTs) to protect against unkillable German armor.įortunately there is an exploit strategy that allows you win the mission, getting the gold medal and lots of XP/veterancy, without many casualties. German vehicles-which are supposed to play a starring role in this mission-often take little or no damage, which of course makes it problematic to engage them. The Stoumont mission is one of the more broken missions in Ardennes Assault.
